How to generate E way bill

An E way bill is an electronic document that contains the details of a consignment of goods that are being transported from one place to another. It is mandatory for certain types of goods and transactions under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime in India. The E way bill system aims to facilitate the movement of goods, prevent tax evasion and improve compliance.

To generate an E way bill, you need to follow these steps:

1. Register on the E way bill portal (https://ewaybillgst.gov.in) using your GSTIN and mobile number. You will receive a username and password to login to the portal.

2. Login to the portal and click on 'Generate new' under the 'E-way bill' option.

3. Fill in the required details such as the invoice number, date, value, HSN code, place of dispatch and delivery, transporter details, vehicle number, etc. You can also upload the invoice or other documents as attachments.

4. Click on 'Submit' and you will get an E way bill number (EBN) along with a QR code. You can print or download the E way bill as a PDF file.

5. Share the E way bill number and QR code with the transporter and the recipient of the goods. They can verify the details of the consignment using the portal or the mobile app.

6. The E way bill is valid for a certain period of time depending on the distance of travel. You can extend the validity of the E way bill if required by updating the vehicle number or transporter details on the portal.

7. The E way bill can be cancelled within 24 hours of generation if the consignment is not transported or there is any mistake in the details. You can also update or modify the E way bill within 24 hours of generation.
